Theatre Raleigh’s Exciting 2016 Season Has Begun!
Hot Summer Nights Series
Theatre Raleigh‘s 2016 season has begun! The first show is a 90 minute chamber version of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Leona at Theatre Raleigh says, “We’re excited to be working with the Tony-award winning writer/composer of the show, Rupert Holmes.” Holmes is the writer and performer of Escape. The play is based on the unfinished novel by Charles Dickens. The audience even gets to vote on the ending!
Most Theatre Raleigh performances take place at Kennedy Theatre, part of the Duke Energy Center For the Performing Arts. For The Light in the Piazza, however, Theatre Raleigh is partnering with the North Carolina Museum of Art. Having events at the museum’s amphitheatre is not uncommon, but this performance will be in the West Building. Leona explains, “The fantastic collections at the museum will be a backdrop to a story that takes place in Italy, but with a number of North Carolina connections.”
Don’t miss these great performances:
The Mystery of Edwin Drood (May 11-22)
All My Sons (June 8-19)
The Light in the Piazza (July 6-14)
Steel Magnolias (July 27-August 7)
