At celito, wearing jeans for a day means so much more than simply enjoying a “Casual Friday.”
Each Friday in August, celito employees enjoyed the opportunity to go “casual 4 a cause” by paying $5 to wear jeans to the office in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. celito raised almost $300 and commemorated their first #Casual4aCause month with a picture from all of the folks at The Kay Yow Cancer Fund. This special campaign is just one of many initiatives that is part of our “celito Gives Back” movement to support Raleigh-area philanthropic organizations.
Supporting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund & Other NC Philanthropic Organizations
Why the Kay Yow Cancer Fund? Named in honor of Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach, the organization was founded in 2007 to help fund cutting-edge cancer research. Yow, a beloved public figure in our home city of Raleigh, fought breast cancer very openly for more than 10 years. During her battle, she created the Kay Yow Foundation with the intention of improving and extending the lives of those with cancer. Since 2007, $8 million has been raised and $3.8 million has been granted for scientific research and programs related to women’s cancers.
Since our founding in 1999, celito has been focused on giving back to our community by supporting philanthropic organizations in Raleigh and the surrounding areas. In fact, celito is proud to have partnered with a number of nonprofits in order to provide them with custom Internet, voice and data solutions to fit their needs.
